A Fine Pair of Yew Wood Low Back Windsor Armchairs, William Wheatland, Rockley (fl. 1822-1828)
Although unsigned, this pair of chairs show all the constructional techniques of William Wheatland – the tapering spindles protruding all the way through the seat, the elegant “single ring” turned leg and similarly turned arm support. Wheatland, like Nicholson, also offers a “scribe” line around the edge of the top hoop.
In lovely original condition, colour and patina.
Rockley, Nottinghamshire, circa 1825.
