A Good Charles I Oak Wall Cupboard

Having a single door, the upper section filled with 9 turned fruitwood spindles, above a well-carved panel, the pattern based on a series of interlocking 'C' scrolls, which terminate in stylised flowerheads.

Around the door is a frame, the top rail of which is symmetrically carved with leaf-filled lunettes, the sides and bottom rails all decorated with 'S' scroll carving.

The door opening on the original iron 'H' hinges, reveals a single shelf position just below the row of spindles, to enable the display of glass or pewterware.

Excellent original condition, good colour and surface.

English, circa 1635.
